You may associate cucumbers with reducing undereye puffiness. It’s true that cucumbers have cooling properties and are especially beneficial during the warmer months! This fruit (surprisingly, it’s not a vegetable) contains vitamin E and silica, which keep skin moisturized and fresh – especially when the weather is hot.
If your skin has sun damage or has been overexposed, you need a soothing, moisturizing mask designed to heal. Here are 3 DIY healing cucumber facial masks you’ll want to try. Keep in mind that each mask is inexpensive and effective. We also love that these masks are made with natural ingredients you can usually find in your fridge or pantry.
1. Hydrating Mask
3 ounces diced cucumber, or 1 small cucumber diced
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
Pulse ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth. Apply mask to skin, and allow to sit for 15 minutes. Gently wipe clean with cotton balls or a warm damp cloth and rinse with luke warm water. This mask will leave your skin feeling soft and glowing.
2. Soothing Mask
3 ounces grated cucumber, or 1 small cucumber grated
2 teaspoons coconut oil warmed so it is in liquid form
2 teaspoons aloe vera gel
Combine ingredients in a blender or food processor. Apply mask to skin, and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Your skin will feel cool and refreshed. Ahhhh….
3. Refreshing Mask
3 ounces diced cucumber, or 1 small cucumber diced
3 tablespoons tea oil
2 tablespoons yogurt
Pulse ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth. Apply mask to skin, and let sit for 15 minutes. Similar to the hydrating mask, this one uses tea tree oil instead of olive oil. Tea tree oil is an anti-bacterial that makes your face feel clean and fresh. This mask is great for healing acne, too.
